Mathrix named Exhibition of the Year

For the sixteenth year in a row, the Forum for Exhibitors has named Exhibition of the Year. The prize is awarded to the exhibition that has best contributed to the development of the exhibition medium in Sweden during the year. The winner in 2023 is Universeum's mathematics experience Mathrix.

During the Swedish Museums' annual meeting, Universeum received the award with the motivation:

"The laws of nature take shape in the room and play becomes a tool that illuminates the secret role of mathematics in human existence, whether it is music, beauty or money. Mathrix is a bewildering numerical exercise for all ages and all senses."

20 entries became three finalists.

Forum for Exhibitors received approximately 20 entries in the autumn of 2023, after which the board selected three finalists based on the criteria best story/dramaturgy, design, audience friendliness and method. Together with Mathrix, Bamse's Källspanare (Museum of Work) and Världens Spel (Museum of World Culture) made it to the final.

Mathrix's idea and content have been developed by Universeum's internal resources, such as project manager, scientific leader, educators, professor, development manager and communicator. New Order Arkitektur has designed Mathrix in consultation with Universeum and Aoki has developed a graphic profile as well as signs and print. Hede Ateljé has been responsible for all construction and Watteriet, WeApp, Techno creatives and Levande teknik have delivered various technical solutions.

INVESTMENT IN MATHEMATICS.

The investment in mathematics is being made together with the Erling-Persson Foundation. The aim is to increase knowledge and develop learning in mathematics.

In the longer term, this will lead to more people applying for and, above all, completing studies in science and technology, where mathematical skills are required. This, in turn, creates the conditions for increased innovation and entrepreneurship for sustainable social development.
