Practical information before your visit.
Universeum is a house full of knowledge, adventure and experiences – a place where science, technology and mathematics are accessible to everyone. For us, it is important that every visitor should feel welcome and safe, regardless of age, needs or conditions.
On this page you will find information that will make it easy to find your way around our environments. You can use it both as support in your preparations for the visit and as a guide on site in the house.
Accessibility and assistive devices.
Most parts of Universeum are accessible by wheelchair or other assistive device. Follow the regular route through the house, but adapt the route through the Rainforest if you use a wheelchair or other aid to get around. In the Aquarium Hall, the Reptilarium, and the Chemistry Lab there are some narrow passages.
- Ticket for escorts
-
Escorts have free admission in the company of visitors in need of escort. Escorts pick up tickets at the information desk on floor 1. Entrance time does not need to be pre-booked. Other visitors in the party pre-purchase tickets and book an entrance time.
For dome performances in Wisdome, escorts need to buy a ticket. Exceptions only for escorts who need to assist visitors in wheelchairs. Contact the information on floor 1 for such an escort ticket.
- Guide or assistance dog
-
Trained and marked guide dogs and assistance dogs at work are allowed throughout the house. If you want to walk through the Rainforest, you must register your visit a few days in advance to us by email: [email protected].
- Bliss map
-
At a science center like Universeum, there are many things that lack symbols on an ordinary bliss map. Feel free to print our own bliss map and bring it with you during your visit.
- Wisdome
-
The dome performances in Wisdome are not subtitled or audio described.
- Rainforest
-
In the Rainforest there is a hearing loop installed. In some places there is tactile writing and a QR code for reading information in Swedish.
Adapted route through the rainforest:
1. On level 5, use the door lock at the Field Station. Turn right in the Rainforest, out through the glass doors. Follow the glass walkway and turn left out through the glass door to the stairwell on floor 5. Use the airlock in and out of the Treehouse.
2. Take the Green Elevators to level 4 and use the airlock. Follow the walkway and out the door.
3. Take the Green Elevators to level 3 and use the airlock. Follow the walkway and out the door on floor 2.
- Toilets
-
Accessible toilets are available on all floors. On floor 5 there is also a toilet with an overhead lift. Bring your own sling.

An accessibility guide.
To make your visit easier, you can now download our accessibility summary PDF. It contains questions and answers as well as a clear overview of our different environments, floor by floor. Use it both as support when planning your visit and as a guide on site in the house.
