Universeum’s life science experience focuses on humans. With a multidisciplinary approach we explore health and sustainability – and highlight vital research.
Starting in 2022 we are remodelling our 3rd floor and creating an area named Herman Kreftinggalleriet. Our new Humans experience will be housed here, together with our existing Chemistry Lab.
Humans will provide an overall medical view of the human body and mind. We take an exciting journey through the body exploring how our bodies work and the biological mechanisms that govern our lives. We will tour human organ systems, from nose to bottom and everything in between, right down to the chemistry of cells.
We will also discuss major health challenges and investigate how we can tackle them, using the body’s defence systems or through lifestyle choices. We will highlight medical research and ask scientists to talk about their own research and why they became scientists.
The question on all our minds is: How can we give ourselves the best chance at a healthy life?
According to the World Health Organization, health is a "state of complete physical, mental and social well-being"
Stage 1
Opening 11 April 2022

Stage 3

The Herman Krefting Foundation for Allergy and Asthma Research is responsible for the life science initiative. Together we make knowledge and research within biology and chemistry accessible to children and adults.
The founder of the Krefting Foundation was Herman Krefting, who set up the industrial company VBG Group and was an asthmatic himself. The foundation supports research projects, a professorship and the Krefting Research Centre at Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg.
________
– It’s exciting that two fields that are as different on paper as development of transport solutions and research into asthma and allergies are creating this together. The collaboration with Universeum is an excellent example of how Swedish industry can benefit society.
