The project ‘Over and Over Again’ won Universeum’s Educator Prize 2011
Five very proud and happy teachers from the Frillesås School Science, Technology and Mathematics Team for Years 6-9 were awarded Universeum’s Educator Prize 2011 for their method of teaching sustainable development.
The students changed their consumption habits and started to make new things from old thanks to innovative teaching from the team. The students made new and useful products from materials that had been left gathering dust, such as LPs, old keyboards and CDs.
“What is fun about sustainable development? It can easily be a bit dry and difficult for teenagers to get excited about, so we asked ourselves, what do they most like doing?” explained Christina Lindholm, teacher at Frillesås School.
She and her colleagues Susann Aspling, Helena Collinder, Jenny Rappe and Annika Ohlsson accepted the award at a gala evening at Universeum.
The SEK 100,000 prize money will go towards professional development for all the teachers at the school.
